7in7 Challenge

4 Colleagues from Igloo Books are undertaking one hell of a challenge in 2012.

John Styring (Managing Director), Mark Burge (UK head of Sales), Dean Cornish (International Sales Manager), and Jonny Illingworth (US Sales Manager) are all attempting the huge challenge of running 7 Marathons in 7 Days in 7 Countries next April.

The plan is to run the full marathon course in Brussels, Cologne, Amsterdam, Paris, Luxembourg, Cardiff and then finish off at the prestigious London Marathon on 22nd April 2012. The eventual aim is to raise over £100k for the Prince’s Trust.

The 4 colleagues have been training hard for much 2011, having completed the Paris marathon together in April, before then making the huge step up to completing 2 marathons in 2 days in 2 Countries in October. The group finished the Frankfurt Marathon on Sunday 30th October, before flying across to Ireland and completing the Dublin Marathon on Hallow’een the following day.... A truly frightening experience! Managing Director, John Styring, managed to complete Frankfurt in 3.59 and then amazingly beat his time the following day in Dublin, finishing in an superb time of 3.49.

Plans are now in full swing for the challenge next April, with the team working out logistics for the event, as well as ramping up the quest to raise money for the Prince’s Trust. To really kick-start the fundraising efforts, a 7 in 7 Charity Ball was organised last month, which raised a fantastic £20k in just one evening. As well as the group completing the 7 marathons in 7 days, other colleagues at Igloo have also got involved, with a group of 7 employees planning on swimming a marathon over the next few months, and 5 others set to run 1 marathon. Others have organised Mufty Days, Tombolas, and Football Prediction competitions, all in the name of Charity.
